Frequently asked questions
about FyreMemories.
Everything teams usually ask before adding in-app memories: platforms, integration, privacy, analytics, and pricing.
Product
What is FyreMemories?
FyreMemories is a memories platform for photo and video apps. It processes the photos and videos your users already upload and turns them into personal memories, delivered through a story ring carousel and a full-screen feed via native SDKs, starting with Android.
How is FyreMemories different from other in-app stories SDKs?
Most stories SDKs show stories that a marketing or content team publishes. FyreMemories generates stories automatically for each user from their own media, so the content is personal and needs no publishing work.
Can I use only the carousel, or only the feed?
Yes. The two components are independent. Use one, the other, or both. You can also use the headless MemoriesRepository and build your own UI.
Can I customize the look and feel?
Yes. Ring size, spacing, colors, fonts, headers, transitions, and feed actions are configurable, and updates apply to live views without a restart.
Integration
Which platforms are supported?
The Android SDK supports Android 7.0 (API 24) and above. It requires compileSdk 35 and a Java 17 toolchain. Other platform SDKs run on the same processing engine.
How do I install the Android SDK?
Add io.fyre.memories:fyre-memories-sdk from Maven Central to your Gradle dependencies, initialize it after Firebase sign-in, then add the carousel or open the feed.
Do I need Firebase?
Yes. FyreMemories uses Firebase Authentication to identify users. Any provider works, including anonymous sign-in.
How long does integration take?
Most teams set up the backend in an afternoon and have the Android carousel running the same day.
Does the SDK work with Java?
Yes. Public methods are annotated with @JvmStatic and @JvmOverloads, so the SDK works from Java and Kotlin.
Privacy and data
Do our users’ photos and videos leave our infrastructure?
No. The FyreMemories processor runs inside your cloud with read-only access to your storage bucket and sends only a summary onward.
Is FyreMemories GDPR friendly?
Analytics collection can be gated on user consent, and each user ID gets isolated in-memory state and on-disk cache, so accounts on a shared device stay separate.
What analytics does the SDK collect?
Views, plays, pauses, completions, replays, likes, shares, downloads, saves, and playback errors. You can filter events, add custom events, or send them to your own pipeline.
Pricing
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan covers up to 1,000 monthly active users and includes the carousel and feed components.
Can I mix subscription and pay-as-you-go billing?
Yes. Subscription plans include a free tier of each metered resource. Usage above those limits is billed at pay-as-you-go rates automatically.
